Silver Fish Festival Monday 20th – Thursday 23rd February 2023
Specimen Burr & Specimen Chalet Bank, 21 anglers fishing.
A fantastic 4 days fishing despite difficult conditions. Temperatures at around 6-7°C, north winds but free of rain.
The 21 field of anglers fished long pole and 8m lines, catching quality bream to 4lbs and plenty of skimmers between 8oz to 2lbs.
There were also good bags of quality roach and hybrids.
Some anglers alternating between the pole and feeder. Feeder tactics being an open ended, loaded with a dark bream mix with either dead reds or worm hook baits.
Best weight of the week went to Dave Smiddy with a brilliant 75-6-0.
Most daily sections required weights of 40-55lbs to win the section.
Fantastic winter sport with over 2,500lbs of silvers weighed in which averaged 30lbs per man over the 4 days.
There was also a substantial number of carp hooked, including fish that scaled up to 22lbs.
Brilliant week enjoyed by all.
A big well done to all competitors.
